Your feelings re track days
«

I have received an invite from BM to attend a session at Zwartkops sometime in March.
Rider training and tips, riding on the track & also an opportunity to test ride new models.
Now, I know you can never stop learning; but, I'm in two minds about attending. I brave the city traffic and commute daily on the RT and do a few longer runs just about every weekend as well. Every Monday morning I see on think-bike that another rider came off during the previous weekend. This morning someone that just attended a track-day session rode into a bus on his way home, very sad.
My question is, does the track days not give you a false sense of security? Peer pressure on the track can cause you to ride above your comfort level, and guess what, you may just get it right on the track because of repetition. Back on the street what happens?
Your thoughts please. I specifically would like to hear from people that attended one of these sessions, but any thoughts welcome.

I have never been involved in a track day, and although I would regard an invitation as an honor, I do not think I will ever be interested.
As you have mentioned - one can never stop learning, but I also beleive pressure could cause a few problems.
I actually like riding on my own, and I do not like ANY sort of pressure while riding.....

juis
meer 'confidence' leer!
No more
bang-gat!

is
security......
Dis veilig, daar is medics wat binne sekondes by jou is as jy geval het....
Almal help mekaar...
Maar dis wat lekker is!
Die meer
experienced
On the track and off.......
Jy's reg, op die track is dit
one way traffic
survival
ook mar 'n geldmaak-foefie! Alles is deesdae so vrek duur!

Avon go ... enjoy it the best you can ... if you can resist a challenge in the 22 then you can resist it on the track.

my
besluit.

Goed Avon, hie's 'n planiekie......
Gaan doen die
training
met die
invite

For three weeks we had absolutely no rain at all. Come Sunday morning and it’s pouring down by the buckets full. OK, put the kit in the boot; let’s make it a first in the history of the academy. Drive to Zwartkops to do the bike rider training in a Camry V6.(you know mos, “superior riders, etc. etc. etc.”). Don’t laugh; they did say there will be bikes to test-drive as well.
Got there with the rain still pouring down, clearing for like five minutes, only to continue pouring down again. Some more people arrive, 650 GS’s and 800 S’s, all sporting the leathers – must be some seriaas riders these guys. Grabbed a cuppa, chatted with the few familiar faces, waited for the truck to sweep the track.
Some-one took an HP2 out on the track, only to return less than five minutes later soaking wet I may add, and called it a day. Must admit I’m glad he did, because even on one of their bikes I would not have taken the chance.
Looking forward to the rescheduled next round…………
