When I bought and registered my quad trailer a little voice told me to not to register it in my own name – nah, it was just more convenient to do so at the time.

On Monday I (no, my wife) received a speeding fine of R1250 for doing 107 k/h in a 80 zone from the Ladysmith Department of Transport with her Flat deck / Platform deck Mechter on the van Reenen N3 on the 30th December 2007 at 06:47.

The rumour must be true then………..they take no prisoners down in KZN……..seriaas about road safety during the Christmas holiday period an all…….
They even included a black & white phodie of a Hyundai Getz in the process of committing the alleged offence.

Irony is if I just ignore this valiant effort to reduce death on our roads my wife could end up loosing her driver’s license or end up in jail.

Ok so what is the real story ... duplicate numberplates ? ... I have been the fortunate recipient of a fine in the Freestate while I was in Kuwait ... false numberplate was their excuse.

Colyn I honestly do not know what the story is. The numberplate on the Getz in the phodie on the ticket is illegible (their copy may obviously be clearer). Point is that the ticket states exactly as I typed it before "Flat deck / Platform deck Mechter" and it's now my problem to get this sorted.

Surely it's rather obvious that a trailer and a Getz cannot be the same thing? Duplicate plates and an honest mistake I can understand, but a speeding trailer borders on the ridiculous.
