Verlede jaar Julie het ons deur die Amerikaanse state Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota en Montana getoer - meer as 5000 km - ongelukkig nie met n motorfiets nie, maar met n Ford F350 bakkie.

Ons het baie motorfietse op die paaie teegekom - die meeste was Harleys.

Ek kon nie die versoeking weerstaan om fotos van die bikers (verreweg die meeste ry sonder valhelms) te neem nie.

Miskien moet ek eerder die fotos aan een van julle stuur om te probeer plaas....



Danie ek het die shots in jou eerste post gesit met nommers onderaan elke foto ... kliek die MODIFY knoppie en dan tik jy Text in agter die nommertjie ... moenie aan die kodes verander nie.

Jou probleem was dat die shots baie groot was en die TW Board limit Attachments tot 500kb per post.

Ek het eintlik nie veel meer kommentaar by te voeg nie, maar ek kan noem dat die amerikaanse motorfietsryers (seker maar soos oral ter wêreld) n baie vriendelike klomp mense is. Ek het n hele paar ontmoet, en almal was uiters vriendelik.

In Rice Lake (Wisconsin) het ek n ou met n 883 Sporty ontmoet. Toe ek hom vertel dat ek nog nooit op n Harley gery het nie, het hy onmiddelik daarop aangedring dat ek n draai met sy bike ry. So ry ek toe (sonder helmet) vir n draai. Na net ongeveer 100 meter begin ek toe skielik helse krampe in my heup kry - ek weet nie of dit van die ry-posisie was nie, maar ek moes toe tou opgooi en omdraai!

 Die ou dring toe daarop aan dat ek saam met hom na die Harley agentskap in Rice Lake gaan - hy wou my toe meer Harleys wys. Daar aangekom, dring een verkoopsman daarop aan dat ek met enige Harley van my keuse n draai ry. Hoe meer ek hom probeer oortuig het dat ek nie n Harley gaan koop nie, hoe meer wou hy hê dat ek op een van die bikes moes ry ! Ongelukkig moes ek maar die aanbod van die hand wys, as gevolg van my blêrrie heup !!

Op n verlate pad in Montana het ons met drie ouens op groot Harley toerfietse gesels. Die een ou was 68 jaar oud, en hulle was op n toer van 11 000 myl (17 600 km) deur Amerika.

Die dra van valhems is net in sekere van die Amerikaanse state verpligtend. My seun het my vertel die mediese dokters daar het nie n groot voorliefde vir die motorfietsryers nie - as gevolg van die baie ernstige hoofbeserings wat die motorfietsryers daar opdoen.......

As gevolg van die uiters streng wetstoepassing in Amerika, hou almal by die snelheidsperke- selfs die motorfiets ryers. Ons het absoluut geen motorfiets teegekom wat die snelheidsperke oorskry het nie !

Eintlik was ek maar bly dat ons met die bakkie en nie met n motorfiets gery het nie - in Montana was die temperatuur een aand om nege uur nog steeds 38 grade Celsius.......
